Obama Kicks the Habit

We were sort of giddy when we found out that Obama was a smoker, and giddier still when Chelsea (who just knows these things) told us that Laura Bush was too.

I for one found Obama’s smoking habit refreshing in a way; it was cavalier and not PC. I’m on the record as having said last week that if he announced he was quitting smoking, he’d be toast. Notice, Laura isn’t quitting. Is this the very first of many caves to come? And alas, no possibility of Obama and Laura at the White House correspondents’ dinner catching a smoke outside. Imagine the small talk as he lights her cigarette. Now Obama has ruined that dream.
